Overview
Paul Paukstelis designed the LatheEngraver as a CNC-style system with the controls based around the very popular OctoPrint system used for years in 3D printing. Paul described his system as:
The LatheEngraver is the first CNC machine designed specifically for woodturning. It is primarily an embellishing tool, allowing the turner to create new designs, limited only by the imagination. The LatheEngraver bolts directly to your lathe and controls both the spindle and an embellishing tool, or it can be used with our stand-alone platform. It is truly a multi-functional device, with capabilities that allow it to substitute for many existing tools, including router templates/jigs, pyrography tools, and threading jigs. It can also replicate all the functions of a traditional Rose Engine lathe. The LatheEngraver is ushering in a new age in woodturning by blending the traditional handcraft of turning with sophisticated yet simple embellishment techniques.
