Ornamentally Turned Objects

Boxwood

This is an excellent wood for ornamental turning, though I have seen little use of it in U.S.A. It is more commonly used in Europe.

Boxwood, especially European boxwood, can be a great substitute for Holly. It is a more warm color than the bright whiteness of Holly.

Prototyping

This wood is difficult to find, especially in large pieces. Prototyping the design on less expensive woods is recommended.
