Ornamentally Turned Objects This is a good wood for ornamental turning. The wood is easily worked, and it holds shapes well. Some turners don't like the very prominent pores in the wood. It has reasonable availability, and is not overly costly. Ornamental Turning Notes I have to use a tooth brush sometimes to brush away small slivers of wood that didn't get taken off when cutting the shape. Using a tooth brush didn't cause any changes to the cut edges. Finishing Finishing this may be necessary to bring out the beauty of the wood. Without a finish, it may look a bit dry. I use Tried & True’s Original Wood Finish. Other More information is in The Wood Database. |
